What to expect from ‘Learning from best practice – the Scottish Awards for Quality in Planning’

The RTPI Training team explains a little more about the first of the new series of CPD events to take place in Scotland.

RTPI Training’s upcoming ‘Learning from best practice – the Scottish Awards for Quality in Planning’ briefing is an opportunity to gain an in-depth knowledge of the achievements in planning celebrated by the awards. Delegates will have the opportunity to ask questions of the award winners and participate in two interactive workshops so that they may look to replicate lessons learned in their own work.

This briefing is being held in Edinburgh on Wednesday 25 April.

Nick James of Land Use Consultants, who will be presenting on the ‘Scottish Marine Recreation and Tourism Survey’, explains the importance of the project and what the award meant to his team:

“LUC is delighted to have won a Scottish Award for Quality in Planning for our work on the Scottish Marine Recreation and Tourism Survey. Designed to inform new regional marine plans, the project provided an opportunity to gather evidence on a previously poorly understood sector. It confirmed the critical importance of the quality of the marine environment in supporting a wide range of recreation activities and the value of the sector to the economy. The findings help ensure that recreation is reflected in marine plans in the same way as off-shore renewables, fisheries and shipping. The award reflects the contribution of many organisations and individuals who took part in the survey, and Marine Scotland and its partners across the marine sector who helped steer and promote the project. Our team included keen sailors, kayakers, wildlife watchers and some who simply like to potter around on the beach, so this project – and the award – is particularly appreciated.”

The Scottish Government is kindly supporting this event and as a result we are able to offer 14 ‘special discount’ tickets at £100 + VAT per person (maximum of two places per organisation). These will be sold on a first come first served basis.
