Future Planning Bursary Scheme

RTPI Scotland is pleased to announce that the Scottish Government and the universities of Heriot-Watt and Dundee will be funding £1000 bursaries to study planning at Masters level. The bursaries are provided through the RTPI’s Future Planners Bursary Scheme. The bursaries are designed to encourage more students, particularly from related subjects such as law and geography, to study planning at Masters level.

Students starting on RTPI fully accredited Masters in 2015 may be eligible for a bursary if they have a first or upper second degree at undergraduate level in any discipline and demonstrate an interest in planning and a career in planning.

Pam Ewen, Convener of RTPI Scotland said:

“I am delighted that the Scottish Government have decided to fund two bursaries through the RTPI’s new Future Planners Bursary Scheme. By working together we are helping to attract talent into the planning profession to ensure we have enough qualified, dynamic planners to help shape Scotland’s future.”

Alex Neil MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Communities and Pensioners’ Rights said:

“The Scottish Government is pleased to be able to support this positive scheme.  The planning profession has much to contribute to achieving a fairer, wealthier and healthier Scotland and it is critical that today’s students are supported to become tomorrow’s planners.  We welcome the RTPI’s efforts to ensure the future vitality and diversity of the profession.”
